摘要

I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains, of ragged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains...[acknowledgements to Dorothea McKellar]...and locusts... My husband David had always wished to return to the Grampians, his old stompingground, and when a ranger position in the Grampians National Park came up in 1989 he took it. We built a home in Pomonal township and commenced a large garden in 1990. The ground was sloping, the soil was sandy, the weather was kind and everything flourished.
