Dick is a Life Member of Australian Plants Society Tasmania and a recipient of the ANPSA Australian Plants Award (amateur category). Dick moved from Sydney in 1970 to live in Tasmania. On arrival, he immediately started bush walking and experienced the many pleasures offered by the Tasmanian bush. The article introduces several types of Tasmanian vegetation including alpine vegetation, rainforest, open forests, west/south west habitats, coastal habitats and other communities. '
