摘要

In a study on the phenolic distribution In the husk of photoperiod sensitive and Insensitive varieties of rice, average phenolic content in photoperiod sensitive varieties was higher than in photoinsensitive varieties when analyzed quantitatively. However, no specific pattern of phenolic distribution in both the categories were found because some of the photosensitive varieties showed lesser quantity of phenols. No qualitative difference was observed in photoperiod sensitive and Insensitive varieties on the basis of two-dimensional thin layer chromatography. In both the categories, 11 phenolics were identified and these were hydroquinone, gallic, p-hydroxybenzoic, vanillic, syringic, salicylic, caffeic, chlorogenic, p-coumaric, o-coumaric and ferulic acids. On the basis of their phenolic content and Individual phenolics, it was not possible to identify the photoperiodic behaviour of rice varieties.
