Dithioesters 4a-c obtained by Michael-type addition of N-(p-fluorophenyl) dithiocarbamic acid 3 to 3-aryl-5-benzylidenerhodanines 2a-c undergo intramolecular chemoselective heterocyclizations with conc. H_2SO_4, NaOH and CH_3I to afford 3, 7-diaryl-5-(arylimino)-2,3,5,7-tetrahydrothiazolo[4,5-d][1,3]dithiin-2-thiones 5a-c,3,4,7-triaryl-2,3,4,5,7-pentahydrothiazolo[4,5-d][1,3,]thiazine-2,5-dithiones 6a-c and 3,7-diaryl-5-(arylimino)-2,3,5,7-tetrahydrothiazolo[4,5-e][1,3]oxathiin-2-thiones 7a-c respectively. The compounds 5c,6c and 7c display in vitro fungitoxicity equivalent to that of commercial fungicide mancozeb against A. solani and oxysporum at 1000 ppm concentration.
