Carboxylesterase associated insecticide resistance in Helicoverpa armigera from Western Maharashtra.

摘要

The induction and activity of carboxylesterases (CE) in H. armigera populations collected from 5 locations (Rahuri, Madha, Shahada, Shirpur and Amalner) in Maharashtra, India, varying in pesticide usage were studied during 2002-04. The enzyme activity was lowest in H. armigera collected from areas characterized by low pesticide usage and vice versa. CE for the 5 populations exhibited the least or negligible induction by endosulfan and slightly increased induction by quinalphos compared with the control. The induction of CE was greatest in the insect population exposed to synthetic pyrethroids, i.e. cypermethrin and fenvalerate. The level of resistance in H. armigera to quinalphos, fenvalerate and cypermethrin were associated with high levels of CE induction.
