摘要

In banana, fertilizer management has got the utmost priority in improving the production potential especially in its plant crop. However, the fertilizer practices for plant crop will in no way be suggestive for the ratoon crop, because of the fact that keeping of parent pseudostem is thought to contribute to the growth of the following sucker(s) in ratoon crop (Walmsley and Twyford, 10 and Turner and Barkus, 8). The annual growth of plants and production of fruits deplete the soil of its macro and micronutrient reserves. The level of nutrients supply at which the maximum yield of plant is obtained reflects the optimum requirement of a particular nutrient for a particular plant species. In India, the available information on the effect of retaining parent pseudostem/mother plant on foliar and soil nutrient status of the first ratoon crop in banana is very meagre. Therefore, the present investigation was carried out to study the effect of cutting height of parent pseudostem vis-a-vis relationship of the number of sucker(s)/follower(s) retained/clump and severingon-severing treatment with mother plant/parent pseudostem on foliar and soil nutrient status of first ratoon crop in banana (Musa, AAA) cv. Giant Governor.
