摘要

Turmeric is an important spice crop of India. Presently its cultivation is picking up in Punjab. Turmeric is usually planted from April end to first week of May in Punjab. Normally, it takes 35-40 days to complete its emergence. During these dry and hot months, light and frequent irrigations are given in order to ensure proper germination. These frequent irrigations provide ideal conditions for heavy weed infestations and thus weeds cover the ground quickly and compete with crop. The chemical weed control may be effective and economical under such conditions but the pre-emergence application of herbicides does not provide season-long weed control. Thus, an integrated weed control approach was investigated in the present study.
