A chain complex of dicopper(II) trmethylactate linked by the pyridyl nitroxide [Cu_2(Me_3CCO_2)_4(NITmPy)]_n (NTmPy=2-(3-pyridyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imdazoly-1-oxyl 3-oxide) has been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystal structure analysis.The structure is based on a tetracarboxylate-bridged dimer unit of paddle-copper (II) type but is extended into an infinte zigzag chain via the oxygen and nitrogen atoms of the bridging NITmPy radical ligands.The variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility data show that a strong antiferromagnetic exchange interaction exists between the copper(II) ions.
