Waters Corp(Milford,MA)has entered into collaborations for the development of control software for high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)systems from Hitachi High-Technologies Corp(HHT;Tokyo,Japan)and Shimadzu Corp(Kyoto,Japan),both based on Waters' Empower~R chromatography software.The deal with Shimadzu,involves the adaptation of the Empower software,with its data and user-control features,to become compatible with Shimadzu's Prominence series of HPLC instruments.Waters' expect the resulting multi-vendor compatibility to access markets with low Waters'presence;s.uch as some regions within Japan,where the Prominence series is the most widely-used HPLC platform.
