In 2006,the European analytical instrumentation industry appears to have been riding the upswing of a trans-Atlantic seesaw,as the United States' plunge to a four-year low in the growth of both imports and exports of analytical instrumentation was answered by further double-digit growth from the countries of the European Union(EU). The results were roughly in line with those of the first half of the year(see Instrumenta 23(10)16)and can be seen as further encouragement for the European industry,which began to recover in 2005 after several years languishing under low single-digit growth.
