Lactation length in conjunction with dry period determines the calving interval, thus this trait is closely associated with breeding efficiency in addition to its association with life time production. The lactation length is dependent on how soon a cow becomes pregnant after calving and one of the important determining factors of economic return from the animal. In view of dearth of literature, the present study was made to investigate the effects of some non-genetic factors on the lactation lengthof swamp buffaloes of Assam.
