The Vinca rosea extract failed to produce direct effect on isolated frog rectus abdominis muscle. The presence of the extract, after a contact period of 3 min, showed dose-dependent inhibition of response of skeletal muscle (rectus abdominis of frog) to acetycholine. At concentrations of 1, 10, 20 and 40 mg per 30 ml tissue bath, the extract showed 5.56, 50.93, 68.52 and 82.41% inhibition of acetylcholine induced contractile response of rectus abdominis of frog, respectively.
