In a recent report of this Journal, Pena and Charrow [2011 ] describe the first woman with Fanconi-Bickel syndrome (FBS, the first genetically proven defect of a facilitative glucose transporter in man) who delivered a healthy child. Despite increasing knowledge of the natural course of this disease and more patients reaching adulthood, information on reproduction among affected individuals has remained scarce [Santer et al., 2002]. Thus, we would like to add our personal experience with a 26-year-old male FBS patient who became father of an affected boy. This pseudo-dominant pattern of inheritance is explained by his marriage to his first-degree cousin; the mothers of the couple being sisters.
