The European Commission has closed its investigation into whether German giant RWE manipulated wholesale electricity markets. There was no evidence to prove the German firm was in breach of European Union competition rules, the commission's watchdogs said. "This supports RWE's position that it operates according to market rules, and in particular that the company neither withholds power generating capacity nor manipulates wholesale electricity prices," RWE said in a statement Thursday.
