Polish refiner PKN Orlen said last week it has reached agreement with the Lithuanian government on buying the state's remaining 9.98% stake in the Mazeikiu Nafta refinery, providing Lithuania with the cash it needs to maintain spending amid the global economic crisis. PKN said it would buy the stake by the end of April for just over $284 million, as stipulated in a deal signed in June 2006, when the Polish firm agreed to buy the 200,000 b/d refinery from bankrupt Russian oil firm Yukos. PKN said it will pay roughly $57 million immediately and the balance, with interest, by Apr. 30.
