摘要

This marks the debut of a new column for IRSQ called "At a Distance," which explores the intersection of distance education and reference services. Our first guest contributor, Angela Whitehurst, is Interim Head of Reference at Joyner Library, East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where until very recently she also served as the Coordinator of Distance Education services for the library. Her article, "The Assessment Portfolio," is based on a presentation prepared for a panel discussion, "Going the Distance: A Closer Look at Uniting with Remote Users," delivered at the 2011 Association for College & Research Libraries Conference in Philadelphia.
