The regrouping of agricultural enterprises into a single entity named GAEC (Groupement Agricole d'Exploitation en Commun) is a "French exception" in Europe, which has been established for nearly half a century. Nowadays, it shows signs of obsolescence. But the process to build it stays timeless. The GAEC resulted from the day-to-day practice of young farmers who, exercising their freedom of thinking, have imagined a singular and original way of production that meets current transformations.

The collaborations analysed span academia, civil society and government, from the grassroots to the national and global levels.
