摘要

Arena Fonte Nova is a match venue, purpose-built for the FIFA 2014 World Cup. The Stadium was constructed on the same site of the previous Estadio Fonte Nova, which had been demolished in 2010 due to its structural instability. The Arena comprises a single main stadium pitch, who's inaugural game was played on 07 April 2013, while two of the local club football teams stadiums, Estadio Maneol Barradas and Estadio Roberto Santos Pituacu, were utilised as Training Venues. Salvador was one of the six host cities for the FIFA Confederations Cup which ran from 15th to 30th June this year. Situated in the north-east of Brazil, the climate is relatively tropical and in the weeks preceding the tournament, temperatures ranged between 25-35°C, with the city experiencing periods of torrential rainfall, along with high temperatures and humidity.
