EMERYVILLE—The US-based certification company is targeting Europe for its Certified Sustainably Grown standard, the aim of which is to encourage the cultivation of safe, ethical and environmentally friendly fresh produce.Following the success of itsfirst sustainable agriculture certification standard - the Veriflora label for horticulture and floriculture products - US-based scs Global Services launched its Certified Sustainably Grown standard for broader applications in the food and agricultural sector. With this standard, the company aims to help clients develop farm management plans, evaluate the environmental footprint of their production, establish comprehensive food safety protocols, improve efficiency of operations, create a safe and healthy working environment for workers, and extend the shelf-life of products.
