Melons, mangoes, pineapples and papayas are proving to be lucrative export earners for the country's farmers, according to Otiver Nuyens of Agrexpront. AGEXPRONT, Guatemala's non-traditional export trade association, is redoubling efforts to boost fruit and vegetable send-ingsto Europe and consolidate its position in the US this year. As well as participating in key trade events such as the PMA, Fruit Logistica and Biofach, the organisation arranged a visit by a delegation of buyers from some of thebiggest supermarkets in Europe and the US in March as part of its biannual Agritrade summit, during which Central American fresh produce growers and exporters meet with international investors, distributors, wholesalers, retailers and industry suppliersto generate new business ventures.
