UK growers are being urged to experiment with new technology and varieties in a bid to increase consumer awareness. THE development of patented thermal sheeting by Greek manufacturer Daios Plastics is allowing asparagus growers throughout Europe to advance their natural outdoor seasons by a month or more, according to company director Dimitris Daios. Speaking at the annual conference of English asparagus growers held in Warwick on 14 March, he believes that this technology could ultimately alter seasonal supply patterns.
