A good crop is expected to bring further opportunities to establish South African onions in the growth market of Europe.South African onion exporters believe that they will consolidate their position in Europe this season with what promises to be a good crop of exceptional quality, attributed to cooler conditions in the main export growing region, the Koue Bokkeveld nearCeres. It is forecast that 13,500 tonnes will be shipped to the UK and mainland Europe this season, while ever-increasing volumes are also sold in Africa.
