wop Dubai is prepared for an increase in both exhibitor and visitor numbers when it returns to the emirate at the end of September. Dubai's Airport Expo plays host to the third edition of wop (World of Perishables) Dubai - the only dedicated trade show for the fresh produce sector in the Middle East - on 26-28 September 2011. The event is described by organisers Messe Essen and Planetfair Dubai as a "marketplace for the increasing trade and demand of produce, technology and logistics to handle perishables" in the region. "Dubai is the regional hub for the fresh produce trade, but has been lacking an adequate forum and meeting point," the organisers said. "Before wop there was no specialised trade fair in the uae, Gulf or the entire Middle East." Exhibitors at wop Dubai are offering solutions to exporters, importers, wholesalers and retailers to source fresh products, reduce post-production and post-harvest losses, maintain produce quality through the use of appropriate packaging, organise transportand transshipment of goods, and apply the cool chain to retain product freshness.
