Packaging specialist reveals positive results of pomegranate bag comparison tests and updates on long-term avocado project with Mtex. Israeli group Stepac has undertaken a study using its specialist plastic bags for pomegranates to observe the preservation of fruit quality after a three-month storage period, with results showing that an additional seven days of shelf-life are added to fruit when compared with competitor's bags. Used in the tests were bags made from Stepac's modified atmosphere Xtendpackaging, which is characterised by high moisture vapour transmission rates (MVTR) and its role in preserving fruit firmness, colour and taste.
