THE Pink Lady apple was born in 1973 in Western Australia's agriculture department, when John Cripps stumbled across a new variety by crossing Lady Williams and Golden Delicious apples. He called the variety Cripps Pink, but in 1997 the variety received community protection certification as Pink Lady. The Pink Lady Europe association, based in the Rhone-Mediterranee, was created in 1997 to market the brand. What volume of Pink Lady apples will be marketed in Europe in 2006/07? What proportion of this total will be produced in France? is this more or less than last year?
