China's Jiangxi Province is expecting a bumper navel orange yield this season, with a 30 per cent rise in crop volume over last year, according to one of the leading grower-packer-shippers in the region. Peng Haocheng of Yang's South & North Fresh Fruits Co Ltd says key growing region Xunwu County is forecast to produce 500,000 tonnes - well above last season's 350,000 tonnes. Favourable growing conditions combined with new plantings coming into bearing are the two main reasons given for the bumper navel crop this year. Fruit sizes are also larger than last season, the trade reports, thanks to plentiful rainfall and clement weather.
