Only Japanese Red Cross Ishinomaki Hospital (JRCIH) was not damaged at the East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011 in Ishinomaki district, the severest disaster area. JRCIH acted as the core hospital in that area. The hospital rapidly started the rescue activity and saved lots of victims. The reason why JRCIH could contribute supporting citizens was sufficient preparation before the disaster, and leadership of the coordinator and supporting groups and cooperation of the employees of the hospital.
