One of the major issues facing chemical companies on a global basis is the brain drain from the industry, caused by company downsizing, an ageing workforce and early retirements. Adding to this concern is the industry's admitted inability to attract fresh new talent in competition with apparently more exciting careers in media, telecoms, pharmaceuticals and finance.
