摘要

The calcia magnesium alumosilicate system is fundamental to the understanding of heat resistant fibre glasses as well as metallurgical slags and igneousltnetamorphic melts.It is especially in the area of the former two applications that there has been very little exchange of information,which is partially due to the different compositional regimes considered as relevant.The paper starts with a brief review of predictive thermody-namic models well accepted in both glass and slag technology.Experimental data on calcia activities in CaO-MgO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2 melts with compositions in the vincinities of invariant points determinedby e.m.f.measurement are presented.Calcia activities are also calculated and compared to the experimental results.Viscosity data submitted to an Adam-Gibbs analysis are employed to check and refine the database.
