The spider species Diplocephalus dentatus was first described by Tullgren (1955) based on females found on the island of Oland. This first discovery was also the only one in Sweden (Kronestedt 2001). At present, besides Sweden, this species has been recorded in 12 other European countries: Estonia, Belorussia, Ukraine (Mikhailov 1996); Lithuania (Relys 2002); Slovakia (Gajdos et al. 1999); Czech Republic (Macek 2006); Italy (Pesarini 2003); Denmark (Scharff & Gudik-Sorensen); Austria, Switzerland, Germany (Blick et al. 2004) and Poland (Starega 2004) (Fig. 1).
