A solenoid sensor has been used to measure the void fraction in two-phase ferrofluid flow. The system of the solenoid sensor consists of a thin wire wounded around a glass tube, an ammeter and a band-pass filter. New theoretical equations were derived. In this magnetic technique, because the relative permeability of glass is equal to that of air, glass capsules were used as a stationary nonflow simulation for bubbly now. Annular and core flows were simulated by the insertion of glass tubes with different diameters. Different wave forms (that is, sine, triangular, square and linear) were tested and used.
