PROJECT developer Unmussig Bautragergesellschaft Baden mbH has been realizing the Quartier Unterlinden construction project in Freiburg since 2007. The aim is to air-condition an office complex with the help of geothermal energy in a sustainable, environmentally-friendly and cost-efficient way. The job required the drilling of 108 wells for geothermal probes under extremely complex geological conditions in depths down to 125m. In April 2009, the drilling procedure was completed successfully and on schedule with the connection of the probes. Unmussig, as general contractor, is working on the project - located in the centre of the large city of Freiburg in South Baden, Germany - on behalf of savings bank Freiburg-Nordlicher Breisgau.
