Unimolecular dissociations of ionized aliphatic alcohols have been investigated by several experimental and theoretical methods.It is interesting that loss of H dominates in the dissociations of methanol and ethanol cations while loss of H2O dominates in 1-propanol and 1-butanol cation reactions.Recently,the dissociation mechanisms of ethanol and 1-propanol cations have been proposed.
