摘要

Our study of the mechanism of paroxetine-induced nausea and vomitingindicated the following: 1.The occurrence of paroxetine-induced emesis was dose-dependent. Weclarified that shrews are a useful animal model for paroxetine-inducedemesis. 2.As indisetron tended to inhibit paroxetine-induced emesis, it was pre-sumed that this emesis is associated with both 5-HT_3and 5-HT4receptors.Moreover, since orally administered indisetron inhibited paroxetine-indu-ced emesis more effectively than intraperitoneally injected indisetron, theintestinal tract luminal mucous membrane might play an important rolein the occurrence of paroxetine-induced emesis. These findings suggestthat during the initial phase of paroxetine administration, combiningparoxetine with an 5-HT_3and 5-HT_4receptor antagonist may increase thepatient's QOL
