The irony, however, is that the currentgovernment, led by Kevin Rudd, is in theprocess of repudiating the free-market ap-proach that has served Australia so welland is rolling back the reform agenda of thelast three decades. In the past year, it's be-come fashionable to blame capitalism forthe world's economic ills and to predict theend of the three-decade bull run in eco-nomic conservative ideas that began withMargaret Thatcher's election in Britain in1979 and Ronald Reagan's ascendancy inthe U.S in 1980.
