DSM survey data shows that pet owners have good awareness of the potential benefits of antioxidants for their animals. Antioxidants are particularly known for their role in the control of free radicals in the body. Free radicals damage cellular DNA, RNA and fatty cell membranes. This damage is linked to ageing and the development of a variety of inflammatory and degenerative diseases, including loss of cognition, heart and joint disease and eye problems such as cataracts. There is also awareness that key antioxidants can help support the immune system.
