Food safety legislation continues to stack up in Washington, D.C., as Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) added his own bill to the list, Feb. 12. Brown says his new legislation combines provisions from two food safety bills he introduced during previous sessions of Congress. The Food Safety and Tracking Improvement Act (S. 425) would give the FDA and USDA mandatory recall authority and authorize S40 million over three years for the FDA to create a national traceability system.
