Leukocytes isolated from perfused gills of rainbow trout by DTT/collagenase digestion and nylon wool filtration were fractionated on a 40-70% Percoll gradient into top and bottom cell fractions. The top fraction was a mixture of lymphocytes, neutrophils, macrophages, eosinophilic granule cells, goblet cells, chloride cells, epithelial cells and cell debris identified by by electron microscopy. The pre-Percoll fraction was identified as mainly peripheral blood lymphocytes by flow cytometry.
