FERC on 4/2/09 authorized Northwest Pipeline GP (CP08-477) to construct and operate 27.4 miles of 24-inch diameter pipeline in order to move 582,000 dth/d from its mainline at the Sand Springs meter station near Rangely, Colo., to an interconnection with Enterprise Production Operating LLC's Meeker gas processing plant and the White River Hub, both in Rio Blanco County, Colorado. The project responds to demand for additional capacity out of the Piceance Basin in the Central Rocky Mountains. Piceance is one of the fastest-growing supply areas in the U.S., with significant growth in drilling and production activity since 2005. Extending Northwest's mainline to Meeker/White River will provide access to supplies of approximately 2,500,000 dth/d.
