Emco Maier Ges.m.b.H. was founded in Hallein (near Salzburg), Austria, in 1947 as a machine-tool manufacturing company. In the wake of a steady upwards trend, EMCO has developed into a sizeable medium-sized company with some 950 employees world-wide; around 820 of those employees work at four plants in three locations in Austria, representing the company's potential for success at the domestic level. EMCO also operates its own efficient network of sales and service companies in Germany, the U.S., France and the U.K. Specially, the company's fields of business include: CNC industry division (CNC lathes and CNC machining centres) training division (industrialised countries) EMCO Projects International (threshold and developing countries) conventional machine tools division (turning and milling) wood division, conventional and hobby hardness testing division CA/C wood division, and laser division. In spite of the bleakest of economic outlooks EMCO has succeeded not only in steering a clear course based on a forward-looking strategy in all its areas but also in streamlining its corporate line. EMCO's activities have been guided by the following principles, principles which will continue to be a key component of its corporate success in the future, too.
