Recommendations for the use of extensometers manufactured from Ni-Cr-base alloys for the measurement of creep strains at high temperature are presented. Procedures for avoiding or minimising the effects of dimensional changes associated with the order-disorder transformation that occurs in these alloys are outlined and technical support for the recommendations is provided in the paper above. Comparison is made with effects due to dimensional changes resulting from precipitation and from thermal fluctuations.
