As we noted last month, utilization rates at large-diameter linepipemills are running higher than in the previous three years. But pricing,mainly due to strong competition for project work from both at home andoverseas competitors, is keeping prices under pressure. In January, wehave heard that some Middle East supply contracts have been awarded,but the global fundamentals are still weak enough to afford low offersfrom major export origins. Export offers have not fallen further, but havenot increased in the past month either. For now, the US market remainshighly competitive.
