On the 21st May, Russia's Gazprom and China's National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) signed a historic gas deal, estimated to amount to over $400bn, which has been some 10 years in the making. The deal will lead to the delivery from Russia to China of around 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year starting from 2018. The deal is also Gazprom's biggest ever contract.
