Harold Pinto is now president of Bridgeport Machines Worldwide Companies, A native of Brazil, he was most recently managing director International for Textron Golf & Turf, after successfully guiding the North American sales operations as senior vice president, sales and marketing. He also held product management positions at Jl Case and Ford New Holland.Interviewed on his first visit to the company's European manufacturing plant in Leicester, he said: 'A window of opportunity presents itself as we find ourselves at the start of 2002 confronted with another all too familiar cyclical downturn in the market, to which the machine tool industry has become accustomed at least once in every decade, usually at the beginning. At Bridgeport, as in the past, we see this as a time for anti-cyclical investment in both product development and other business measures in order to adapt to changes to be ready and fully-able to deliver immediately the new requirements of our customers as and when the demands upon them return.'
