New Approach to the Problem of Environmental Hazards Monitoring in Coal Mines

摘要

The article presents some research carried out with the aim to design a new system which belongs to the mine safety systems category. The system ensures monitoring and prediction of ventilation hazards in high output longwalls, whose source is mining activity. The essence of the project is that so far the analysis of parameters which describe the environmental hazards level has been made in most cases without information about the production process. Meanwhile, in the mines which use modern mining technologies, this process has the greatest impact on the formation of level dynamics of the ventilation phenomena that lead to a rise of emergency states and even catastrophes. This is confirmed by the analysis of data from monitoring systems installed in Polish mines. The lesson here is that in the mines of high production and high level of environmental hazards, safety is an integral part of the production process, and its level depends not only on natural issues but also on the state of machines and equipment of the technological line as well as the method of coal mining and control of the coal production process. This article presents a new concept of the system for environmental hazards monitoring in longwalls and developments and briefly describes its main functions and selected underground equipment.
