The Hudson Institute of Mineralogy, a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to research, preservation and education, anticipates a transfer of some of its laboratory facilities to several organizations in the coming months. The relocation is expected to be completed by late June. As part of a joint museum effort, both the Franklin Mineral Museum and the Sterling Hill Mining Museum will receive laboratory equipment that will give the two not-for-profit groups analytical capability for mineral identification efforts as they relate to their diverse and scientifically challenging deposits. Equipment from the Sid and Betty Williams Laboratory will be housed at a new facility at the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, but it will operated jointly by personnel from both museums.
