Caterpillar has available its CAESbasic computer-aided earthmoving system. This system is a cost-effective way for miners to manage grade control. It provides the equipment operator with the ability to attain design elevation without survey stakes. CAESbasic helps lower earthmoving costs through higher machine productivity and use and reduced survey time. The system is used for grade and slope control on benches, roads, leach pads, dump areas and in reclamation work. CAESbasic combines global positioning satellite technology (GPS) with on-board computing. This gives the operator the information needed to complete the job specifications the first time.
