Global demand for platinum -increased during 2005 by 4.971 (160,000 oz) to 208.3 t (6.7 million oz). And platinum supplies for the year grew by 4.35 t (140,000 oz) to 206.21 (6.63 million oz), according to Johnson Matthey. Greater output came from Russia and South Africa, according to Platinum 2006. Even so, the platinum market was undersupplied by about 2.17 t (70,000 oz). That was the seventh consecutive year of undersupply, the report said.
