Pan American Silver said its 2002 silver production in creased by 12 percent. The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company operates four primary silver mines. During 2002, they produced 242.6 t (7.8 million oz) of silver. Cash costs for consolidated production last year were US13 cents/g (4.16 US dollars/oz) compared with U514 cents/g (4.36 US dollars/oz) in 2001. Pan American also produced a record 39 kt (43,000 st) of zinc and 20.8 kt (22,800 st) of lead. The company estimates that 2003 silver production will increase to 320 t (10.3 million oz).
