Juan Camus presents a consolidation of his experience in the Chilean mining industry as an engineer, manager and consultant. His theme in this book is management of mineral resources and the creation of value in the mining business. It comes at a time of industry consolidation and reorganization. The book is written in a very readable form. It can be referenced by industry practitioners and nonexperts, alike. Though the book results from Camus' doctorate studies, its presentation makes easy reading. To the student, it will provide an excellent introduction to management (not Just in the mining industry), mine economics and organization. To the mining engineer or the mine manager, it will provide an interesting retrospective of where the industry stands and where it wants to go.
